I've been taking photos for a very long time. Since I was 12, actually. I used to borrow my parents old camera and fill the memory card with blurry close ups and photos of the neighbor kids and flowers and my sister's rooms. When I was 15 or 16, I charged $25 for a photoshoot and made $75 my first summer. I've done it ever since! It is a hobby that is also a passion and I really love the entire process.
I'm so excited to spend time working together! My goal is to make you feel seen and valuable and beautiful and also make the session a natural and fun experience.
And just because I want to, here are 10 fun facts about me:
While my kids sleep: I'm folding laundry or vacuuming floors or sitting outside listening to birds like an old lady orrrrr sitting in bed watching a show. If I had to pick an activity to do every night it would be to eat dried mango and watch a show with my hubby. Thankfully he's a fan of all my rom com's and drama's and I love him deeply for it. Also I usually fall asleep sitting up. Oops.
Favorite food: Watermelon, or cinnamon rolls. I made these amazing sourdough cinnamon rolls for Christmas and I kid you not I could have literally eaten the whole pan. They even had a brown butter cream cheese frosting. YUM.
Favorite thing about myself: This is a hard question for me but since I'm an adult I should be comfortable talking about myself. I think I'm funny. I am also good at budgeting and decorating my home. Also, I've learned a lot of things about holistic and natural living these past few years and I pride myself in what I've learned about health and homeopathy and how to nurture and nourish our bodies well in the way God has designed! There. Done.
Worst trait: I've always been self conscious of how fast I talk. I've been working on it for many years. I'm also a people pleaser. Which isn't a bad trait necessarily, but it can get me in trouble. I'm an extroverted introvert, so if I say yes to too many things in a week I fake it until I'm home and then I cry because I've had too much people time. How's that for honest?
Fam: Rick and I have been married since 2012. Together for 14. Yes, I was 16 when we met. He thought I was in college. I knew I wanted to marry him the moment I saw him. Sounds dramatic but it's true! We have four kiddos. Hadley is 10 and she is a little mama. She is sweet, caring, nurturing, and fun. Lucy is 8 and Rick has called her "loose cannon Lucy" her whole life. She is spunky and fiery and exudes joy. Oakley is 5 and our first boy and he changed me for the better. He is the most sensitive, snuggly and tender boy. And finally, Bodie is almost 3 and the perfect bookend to our family. He's heavy and huge and has dimples and a butt chin and is obsessed with anything Spiderman.
Favorite verse: "From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been a refuge for me, A tower of strength against the enemy. Let me dwell in your tent forever; Let me take refuge in the shelter of Your wings. Psalm 61:1-4
Embarrassing story: Over the past few years, we got 3 dogs. All at different times, thinking the next one would be a better fit than the last. It was very expensive and a very quick decision and each time I wanted it SO SO BAD. And so did my kids. Rick was on the fence. We quickly realized the dogs weren't the problem, I was. If you're on the fence on getting an animal.....don't. They were like a fifth kid who didn't grow up and wasn't as cute as a kid and smelled like an animal and pooped and peed like an animal. The dog life just isn't for me, okay? Rick, you were right. I was wrong.
Favorite color: Green. Like an earthy sage green! Close second is orange/brown/terracotta vibes.
Favorite thing to photograph: Kids and birth. I love birth so so much. I love kids too, but there's just something about birth! Extra fun fact: I want to be a doula someday!
Unique ability: I can balance 3 spoons on my face. One on my nose, and two on my cheeks. I can also write backwards and upside down. I'm so cool.
